The Biny Table n°231 Table light by the French brand DCW éditions is an iconic design by Jacques Biny from 1958 that still looks surprisingly modern and timeless today. Its characteristic shape with adjustable slats can evoke a futuristic object or a minimalist sculpture, while the main focus is on functionality and precise light work. The lamella system concentrates the light precisely on the work surface and ensures high-quality illumination for reading and working, while also allowing a pleasantly soft light into the space. The current reissue features integrated, removable LED technology with a 2700K chromaticity temperature and the ability to adjust the direction of the light via a rotary wheel, sensitively combining the original design with today's technological demands.

The Biny Table n°231 Table light impresses with a shape that has not lost its relevance even after decades. Its distinctive silhouette with slats can resemble a futuristic object or a technical artefact, making it a design accent even in contemporary interiors. One of the key elements of lighting is the system of adjustable blades, which allows you to precisely direct the light according to the actual need. As a result, it provides intense and effective illumination of the work area, but can also create a softer, more pleasant atmosphere. Designed by Jacques Biny

Jacques Biny is one of the most prominent figures in French lighting design of the post-war period and is considered a pioneer of modern lighting. He graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and began his career as a decorator, which influenced his pragmatic approach to working with light. The lack of quality lighting on his own projects led him to design lighting fixtures and, in 1955, to found the Luminalite manufacture. Biny exceptionally combined the role of designer and manufacturer and developed the mass production of modern luminaires with an emphasis on functionality, technical precision and quality of light. His designs are characterised by spare lines, elemental shapes and a timeless aesthetic that remains relevant today. "It is the search for the right balance between technical rigour and aesthetics that integrates into contemporary architecture that has led to the creation of my luminaires."
