Inspired by the archetype of the classic lamp

Designer Jaume Ramírez drew inspiration from the traditional table lamp, which diffuses light in all directions. However, he simplified this concept into basic geometric shapes and translated it into a contemporary design language. The result is a timeless object that references the past (such as oil lamps or candles) while also appearing modern and minimalist.

Light that emanates from "within" the material

Transparent glass serves more than just an aesthetic purpose—it allows the light source itself to shine through and highlights its natural diffusion. The light does not spread directly but gradually “spills” through the lamp’s structure, creating a very soft and soothing effect. As a result, Fragile appears more like a luminous volume than a traditional lamp.

Designed by Jaume Ramírez

Designer Jaume Ramírez is one of the leading figures in contemporary Spanish design, whose work is rooted in a deep connection between people, objects, and light. He shaped his career through his design studies and the experience gained from his own studio, which he now runs in Barcelona. His approach to design is deeply personal and philosophical. Ramírez does not view lighting merely as technical objects, but as a means of influencing our emotions and perception of space. A hallmark of his work is the purity of form, his use of archetypes, and his emphasis on the relationship between the object and the user. His designs appear understated, yet they conceal a profound concept—light in them is not merely functional but becomes a carrier of atmosphere and emotion. This approach is also reflected in his collaboration with the Marset brand, for which he has created several distinctive products, including the iconic Fragile lamp.
