Gino Sarfatti (1912-1985) was a visionary Italian designer who profoundly influenced the shape of modern lighting in the 20th century. He originally studied aeronautics and engineering, which was strongly reflected in his approach to design - technical precision was combined with aesthetic simplicity. In 1939, he founded the Arteluce brand, which soon became synonymous with innovative and elegant lighting. Sarfatti designed more than 600 different lighting models, many of which are still considered design icons today. His work redefined what light could mean in a functional and visual sense, and his timeless designs - such as the famous 2097 chandelier - remain a popular choice for lovers of cutting-edge design decades later.
